YYC Daily Safety Briefing Update

Like many things in our day to day life change is inevetable; but our progress depends on what we do with that change. Having said that, changes have been taking place at AAI some subtle, some not so subtle. The most recent change has been to the way we communicate the Daily Tool Box Talk to our team. By embracing technology using a QR Code and renaming it to the “Daily Operational Safety Briefing.” “Leading by Example” one of several new initiatives being introduced in the upcoming months has proven to be succesful thanks to working with our employees ensuring it’s success.

What is a “Daily Operational Safety Briefing” & What is its Importance?!

In replacing the original tool box talk the Operational Safety Briefing will not only increase awareness amongst workers about health and safety issues associated with their day to day work activities, it also focusses on awareness, safety improved protocols in the workplace identifies key Calgary Airport Operational Advisories that may effect workers on and or off the job. The new QR code doesn’t just streamline the whole process but also provides oversight and compliance for both AAI Corp and YYC. The new OSB provides employees with key information that can be updated instanteously as required, in addition it captures important data allowing us to further improve as an employer. Along with key mandatory questions that require each employee to respond to here is a small sample size of some of the information, questions and features it makes available:

AAI Fit for Duty Policy – understanding employer/employee obligations by reporting restrictions on your ability to perform your role safely including where conditions change.

  1. Download the app from the app store
  2. Point the phone at QR code below so that it’s in the frame.
  3. Will be prompted to go to a web page, click the arrow or prompt to follow the link.
  4. Complete all questions on the questionnaire.
  5. If you are not cleared for work, you will see this response message … “you are not cleared for service today. Please contact supervisor immediately.”
  6. All data is stored and viewed daily.
