A Few Words from Grace Villanueva, our Newest Supervisor

It’s not fun to say, but truly this Covid season did something good to me.

For one, due to the luxury of available time, I was able to focus on my D-AVOP training. Being able to do this, with the utmost support of my manager, Paul and two of my trainers, Patti and Gino, I was able to obtain my D-AVOP licence.

It was a remarkable day for me when I passed my D-AVOP test and for sure for YYC management team as well. Soon after, I took a Security Licence course and obtained my certificate too.

Another opportunity opened for me when I was offered to do a Relief Supervisor position, which I did whenever needed. It was a good experience, alongside with honing my abilities and capabilities in doing all the escorting job, be it Surveillance, DA driver or D driver. Having all these learning experiences, it made me more

equipped and comfortable in doing my job.

I guess Paul saw a potential in me, so in no time, I was offered to do a supervisor position, which I gladly accepted. I know it will be a challenging role for me, but it is something that I’d like to do.

I just completed my Supervisor Training with Paul and the training gave me more understanding on each and every aspect of my role as a supervisor. He not only made me understand my duties and responsibilities, based on set policies and guidelines, but also, showed me and explained some good points on dealing with different people of different personalities and different cultural backgrounds.

He made sure I’m aware of diversified workforce and how important it is to be able to make them feel comfortable

and confident in performing their duties.

It was pointed out clearly by Paul, that the key point to achieve this is through active listening and understanding. It is being able to make people feel that we support them and be able to help them to be successful in the workplace.

There are so many more things that I learned during my training, but one thing will always be my guiding principle. That is to “Lead by Example”. It is how I represent myself, which will always speak as a good representation of our company, AAI Corp.

On this note, I’d like to extend my appreciation to Paul, Patti and Gino for all their support and to AAI management for this great opportunity. Also, for the helpful insights shared by Niko during the training, not to mention, those run to Timmies for free coffee.
